The basic plot of the story:
Professor Louise Banks, who studies language, is in charge of a special group of investigators. This team is formed to handle the situation when huge spaceships arrive and land in 12 different places worldwide. As countries are on the brink of a worldwide war, Banks and her team must hurry to find a way to talk to the aliens. Wanting to solve the puzzle, she takes a risk that might endanger her life and potentially all humanity.
